San Diego Superior Court is seeking additional qualified candidates for the position of Interpreter (Spanish Option). Candidates who previously applied for Examination No. 22-019 do not need to re-apply in order to remain in consideration. New eligible candidates resulting from this application period will be added to the current list, and may be used to fill current and future Interpreter (Spanish Option) vacancies as they occur. There are full-time positions open for Interpreter (Spanish Option) in the "All Court Floater" pool. Interpreters in "All Court Floater" assignments must be available to work and provide coverage in all Superior Court locations: the Central Division, with two courthouses in downtown San Diego, as well as the Juvenile Court and Kearny Mesa Branch in the Kearny Mesa area; the North County Division in Vista; the East County Division in El Cajon; and the South County Division in Chula Vista. Online applications will be accepted on a continuous basis. Please note that this recruitment may close at any time without notice. Paper application forms will not be accepted for this recruitment. Interpreters provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services during court proceedings as parties and witnesses testify, or when attorneys present oral arguments and motions. Interpreters may also assist court staff with interpreting in a customer service setting, and may provide sight translations, as needed. Interpreters work in a courtroom or office setting and have significant contact with judges, court staff, attorneys, and the public. The starting hourly salary for Interpreter is currently set at $44.48 (approximately $92,518.40 annually). Interested individuals must possess at the time of application a valid and current certification as a "Certified Court Interpreter" in Spanish, as issued by the Judicial Council of California. Applicants who do not have the Judicial Council interpreter certification will not be considered. An online San Diego Superior Court job application is required. Please visit the court's website at From the General Info tab, click on the "Employment" link. At the Job Opportunities page, click on the position that you are interested in and then click on the "Apply" button. New users of the NEOGOV online application system will need to set up a job applicant user account. Applicants must submit proof of certification in Spanish as issued by the Judicial Council of California. Please upload a PDF or JPEG attachment of your "Certified Court Interpreter" certificate in the "Attachments" section of your job application. Factors evaluated in the selection process may include the ability to accurately provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services in Spanish; establish and maintain effective working relationships with court staff and law enforcement personnel; maintain confidentiality of information; and maintain a neutral, non-bias position when providing interpreting services.
